CYLC, YC clinch state basketball titles

CYLC upstaged YPHU to seal the youth boys title, while Youth Club got the better of YPHU in the sub-junior boys final of the State Basketball Championships at Chingamakha on Sunday.
CYLC hardly broke a sweat as they beat YPHU by a 57-37 margin in their youth boys summit clash.
They were never in doubt scoring a huge 13-7 lead to open the game and went on to stamp their authority across the following quarters, leaving their opponents in disarray over the course of the contest.
The CYLC squad went further ahead (33-18) in the second quarter and compounded the opposition’s woes when they led 45-29 moving into the fourth quarter where they rounded off the game in style with a 57-37 score and got their hands on the winners’ trophy.
Earlier, the youth champions had defeated St Anthony Sports Club 54-49 in the semifinal and they replicated their peerless form in the final.
The sub-junior final, on the other hand, saw Youth Club pull off a dramatic turnaround to snatch a 35-24 victory over YPHU for their title.
Both teams were locked in a stiff battle in the first two quarters with Youth Club trailing 8-9 in the first period and 13-14 in the following period of exchanges.
And things looked even more challenging for the YC boys when they further fell 17-24 behind their rivals.
However, Youth Club staged a strong fightback in the fourth and last quarter and eventually tilted the scales in their favour with a score of 35-24 in astonishing comeback.
