Tangkhul nurse found dead, police quiz suspect

SHILLONG, 30th May: A day after a decomposed body of a missing nurse from Nazareth Hospital was recovered from Ryndang Briew in Shillong, the family members have left for Manipur, along with the body, Thursday afternoon. On completion of post-mortem at NEIGRIHMS, the family members immediately left for Manipur, along with the body for the last rites. They are expected to reach Ukhrul by Thursday. It may be recalled that the 28 years old nurse was murdered and her body was found dumped at Ryndang Briew near Umiam lake. Hailing from Manipur and working as a nurse at Nazareth hospital, the deceased Leiyaton Soro had gone missing since Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Meghalaya police on Wednesday detained one person in connection with the murder. "We are questioning one suspect in connection with the murder of the nurse," SP in-charge East Khasi Hills district Davies Marak said. The Tangkhul and Naga bodies based in Shillong demanded CM Conrad Sangma and home minister James Sangma for speedy investigation of the case. (TNT)
