UNC stands firm on Naga issue

SENAPATI,7th Aug: United Naga Council (UNC) has strongly asserted that it will confront any endeavour in any form which is working to derail the finalisation of Indo-Naga Framework Agreement. “While the whole Naga people are hopefully waiting for the finalisation of the historic Indo-Naga Framework Agreement, UNC will confront anything that will be detrimental and damaging to the finalisation of agreement in any form,” the Naga body said. It also said that Naga people will not be held responsible for any fallouts and untoward eventualities.

According to UNC, Nagas are closely watching all the activities of “other communities of the present state” opposing the finalisation of the “hard earned historic Indo-Naga Framework Agreement” signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM on August 3, 2015. Terming the August 8 shutdown called by Kuki Inpi Manipur as unwarranted and uncalled for, UNC cautioned that Naga people “will never stay away from anything that will tarnish or serve detrimental consequences to the Indo-Naga peace process which had begun prior to India’s Independence”.

UNC then directed that any “unmandated or unauthorised” Naga individual, organisation, political leader, political party or elected representative should not, in any way, express in words or deeds which are detrimental and damaging to the “established” Naga political position both inside and outside the assembly/parliament.
