STAFF REPORTER
IMPHAL,31st Aug: Manipur Truck Owners Welfare Organisation (MTOWA) trucks loaded with fertilisers, which was brought to Jiribam on a special train as per initiative of the government, would be arriving at Imphal on Saturday. MTOWA took the responsibility of transporting the fertiliser in the interest of the state farmers following instruction from the chief minister through additional chief secretary and director of agriculture.

According to MATOWA president H Ranjit, he was told about the instruction of chief minister over the phone by the additional chief secretary (agriculture) on Friday afternoon. Even though several MTOWA trucks have already been loaded with PDS rice, the association immediately mobilised its trucks and went to the station to transport the fertiliser consignment.

Since the transport contractor, which the state government had engaged earlier, had already transported some of the fertilisers, there were loads for only 56 trucks and many MTOWA trucks returned empty from there. Loading of fertiliser bags is in progress, he said, and added that the loaded trucks will leave Jiribam late night and will arrive at Imphal by Saturday afternoon.
