KSA censures Prof Pandey, MHRD
IMPHAL, 2nd Sep: Taking serious note of the notification issued in respect of resumption of office by Vice Chancellor Prof AP Pandey on Saturday, Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) termed Prof Pandey's move as gross violation of the MOA signed between the MU community, state government representatives and MHRD on August 16.
In a statement, KSA secretary general S Hemjit said that the MHRD and Prof AP Pandey have no respect to the agreement signed on August 16 following which Prof Pandey was granted leave until the completion of the enquiry against him and which was duly approved by the MHRD on August 18. Prof Pandey is challenging not only the MU community but also the entire people of the state.
So, the silence of MHRD in this regard is high condemnable, Hemjit said, while asking if Pandey is above the MHRD. Meanwhile, the students’ body cautioned the state government of dire consequences if it continued to follow instructions from the Union government despite the demand of the people to remove the VC. The state government should not forget the fact that it was also a party in signing the memorandum, Hemjit reminded. If the state government is not able to counter the act of VC Pandey then KSA will consider that the state government is not working in the interest of its people, he charged, while adding that KSA will continue to extend all possible support to the movement of MUSU, MUTA and MUSA.
