State, full military honour paid to martyred AR jawan

IMPHAL,9th Sep: The mortal remains of rifleman Champeshwar Mahakhud of 29 AR, who lost his life during a gunfight with militants at Zoupi area of Chandel on September 7, were sent on his final journey with full state honour on Sunday. Champeshwar Mahakhud was from Dhourakhaman of Sambalbur district in Odisha and is survived by his wife and their seven-year old son.

The solemn occasion was attended by agriculture minister V Hangkhanlian, chief secretary J Suresh Babu, IGAR (South) major general KP Singh, Manipur Police IG (Zone I) Clay Khongsai, 9 Sector AR commander brigadier Amit Kaptiyal, 28 Sector AR commander brigadier Neelesh Bhanot, CRPF DIG brigadier SK Sharma, SP Imphal West Jogeshchandra Haobijam and SP Chandel Kamei Angam Romanus and other police officials.

In a statement, PRO IGAR (S) said rifleman Champeswar Mahakhud made the supreme sacrifice in duty. The wreath laying ceremony was held with full military honours and decorum by Tulihal Bn of 9 Sector AR.

The ceremony was attended by Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu Major General K P Singh, IGP (Zone-I) Clay Khongsai, Brig Amit Kabthiyal, Brig Neelesh Bhanot, Brig S K Sharma, DIG CRPF, DC Chandel, SP Chandel and SP Imphal West, a release of PRO IGAR (South) informed.
