Cabinet approves ordinance to prohibit mob violence
IMPHAL, 4th Oct: The state cabinet on Thursday approved Manipur Protection for Mob Violence Ordinance 2018. Informing this to media persons after the cabinet meeting, government spokesperson minister Th Biswajit said that Thursday's cabinet discussed 28 agendas and some of them have been deferred for a later date. The cabinet took serious notes of the trend of mob violence which resulted in loss of properties and lives and approved to implement the ordinance to check such mob violence.
The cabinet also approved to hike salary for the elected representatives in rural local bodies from January 1, 2019. The approved hike of salary for different posts are Rs 12,000 from Rs 10,000 for Adhakshya; Rs 10,000 from Rs 6000 for up-adhakshya; Rs 9000 from Rs 4000 ZP member; Rs 8000 from Rs 3000 for pradhans; Rs 5000 from Rs 2000 for up-pradhans; and Rs 3000 from Rs 1000 for ward members. It also approved for MPSC to adopt the examination pattern of UPSC in order to provide better opportunity to the UPSC aspirants of the state.
Further, recruitment examinations for section officers and engineers for engineering departments will be conducted through MPSC for better transparency, the minister said. The cabinet further approved suitable government job to international women polo players of the state Laishram Thadoi, Asem Rebati, Salam Sumati, Khundongbam Habe, Khundongbam Damayanti, Soibam Langlen and Th Tamna.
Observing how lack of proper hotel facilities affect tourists and investors visiting the state, the cabinet approved to upgrade Imphal Hotel, which is being run by Classic Hotel, into a 5-star grade hotel by inviting tenders with a lease contract term for 49 years.
t also approved appointment of die in-harness beneficiaries in the power department, which had remained pending since the department was converted into a company, within six months by calling necessary documents. Recruitment of 113 employees on contractual basis under the National Nutrition Mission in 90:10 centre-state funding ratio; and 29 contractual staff for Mahila Shakti Kendra were also approved by the cabinet.
It further approved to hike salary for the staff of Manipur Bhavans in Delhi and Guwahati. Appointment of former PWD chief engineer Ch Deven as chief engineer of MIDA for a term of one year, and extension of the service for one year for MDS chief engineer Salam Rupkumar were also approved by the cabinet. Moreover, the cabinet approved appointment of renowned singer Shamurailatpam Naba as consultant for the department of art and culture for a term of one year, Biswajit added.
