Ukhrul ADC best performing council: Ex-MLA

UKHRUL, 8th Oct: Former Ukhrul MLA Samuel Risom has said that Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) is the 'best performing' council at the present juncture of political scenario in hill districts of the state, acknowledging the 'perseverance' and 'commitment' of the incumbent local self-government of Ukhrul to bring about tangible development in the district. The former MLA stated this during inauguration of a newly constructed Open Stage and a new Public Toilet at Kazipphung High School ground, Hundung village here on Monday. Among others, the function was also attended by Ukhrul ADC chairman K Dickson.
"ADC in Ukhrul is the best performing council in the state so far. Look at the other hill district councils, none of them are currently receiving any development funds after the recent political turmoil" he stated soon after inaugurating the open stage, adding that in the case of Ukhrul ADC, it is already taking up different development activities with perseverance and dedication including those under the 14th Finance Commission.
Much to the elation of the villagers, the duo took it in turns to inaugurate the two new facilities which were constructed by councillor SP Mashunngam of Shangshak -13 DCC under the 14th Finance Commission 2017-18 of UADC.
The MLA then appreciated councillor SP Mashunngam for living up to the wishes and expectations of the villagers, by constructing the new open stage and the toilet facilities for the benefits of public of Lower Hundung area. Dedicating the toilet facility to locals, chairman K Dickson urged the villagers to make proper use of the new facilities, and expressed hope that these new facilities will help improve sanitation and community development in the village.
Elated at the successful completion of the new facilities, councillor SP Mashunngam expressed his gratitude to Ukhrul ADC, NPF Ukhrul and villagers of Kazipphung in Lower Hundung, adding that "since the fund we get is meagre, the project could not have succeeded without their support and assistance." NPF Ukhrul Division president Wungnaoshang A Shimray, Ukhrul 44 Area unit president MH Moon, executive members Paothing Vashum, Kapangpam Zimik, Khayinghor Vashi, and councillors K Thanmi, Yangmi Shimray, Thuingahan, Ngamsung and Lawrence, and CEO Polly Makan were also present on the occasion. CS Pemper chairman LHPO, different unit area functionaries of NPF and officials from different departments of Ukhrul ADC also attended the event.
