Possible strike over banker’s murder
IMPHAL, 11th Oct 2018: Bankers all over the country are likely to launch a nationwide strike demanding arrest of the assailants, who killed service manager of SBI Dadara branch (Assam) Junu Sharma, who was shot dead by two unknown persons coming on a motorcycle on her way home on Tuesday. SBI Officers' Association, NE Circle regional secretary Ch Lilabanta informed this to media persons during a memorial service organised in honour of the slain SBI officer in front of SBI MG Avenue office on Wednesday evening. Interacting with media persons, Lilabanta said that bankers are serving the people from all walks of life and such threats to their lives will deter their will to work freely. Apart from Junu Sharma's murder, some persons also cut off fingers of the chief manager of UBI Bhopal branch on October 3, he said while urging the government, police and CSOs to take initiative for ensuring protection of the lives of bankers. SBI Imphal branch AGM Girim Sharma also attended the memorial service. SBI staff present at the service, also observed a two-minute silence in honour of the late officer.
