Student seeks FIR against Prof Yugindro

IMPHAL, 11th Oct: A day after a research scholar sought registration of an FIR against Manipur University vice-chancellor in-charge Prof K Yugindro on the alleged ground of feeding false information with regard to the Manipur University impasse, another university student lodged a complaint to officer in-charge of Singjamei police station against Prof Yugindro.
On Thursday, Nilakanta Longjam (25), a student of MU physical sports education and sports science, requested registration of an FIR against the VC in-charge “under most stringent and appropriate Section of Indian Penal Code for Providing False information to police”.
Stating that he was not aware about the FIR (No. 223, dated 20/09/2018) filed against him in the police station by Prof Yugindro, the complainant mentioned that he left the hostel (MU) in the second week of August for medical check-up.
Due to sudden severe abdominal pain, Nilakanta said, he went to City Hospital, Chingmeirong on August 30 and consulted one doctor Romeo on whose advice several tests were conducted at Babina Diagnostics on the same day. As told by the doctor to take proper rest, his mobile phone was switched off, he mentioned in the police complaint.
Subsequent to recurrence of abdominal pain, Nilakanta consulted Dr Kh Santikumar Singh on September 21 morning and undertook further tests to diagnose the abdominal pain which was followed by another series of tests on September 26 at Sangai Healthcare & Research Centre, Imphal.
“Thereafter, I was diagnosed with appendices and on the same day an emergency operation was conducted at Suba Hospital and Assisted Reproductive Centre, Lamphel where I was bed-ridden for five days and got discharged on September 30.”
Stating that he was shocked to learn that Prof Yugindro had filed a false case against him at Singjamei Police Station, Nilakanta clarified in his complain that he neither visited Manipur University since leaving the campus in the second week of August nor was aware that Prof Yugindro had been appointed as Pro Vice Chancellor.
Stating that his medical condition did not permit him to file the report on time, the student mentioned that reason for complaining against Prof Yugindro is to enable due course of law to take place for initiating action against VC in-charge with regard to filing a criminal case against him (Nilakanta) by providing false and fabricated information to police.
He urged the office in-charge to register an FIR under most stringent and appropriate sections of Indian Penal Code against Prof Yugindro.
