Th Radheshyam mulls uniform for teachers

IMPHAL, 14th Oct: Education minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that the government is planning to enforce compulsory uniform for teachers of government schools like those in some private schools in the state.
The minister was speaking as chief guest at the inauguration function of a New Academic Block of N Gulap Memorial English School, Haraorou on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, Radheshyam said that apart from having uniforms for teachers, van services for transportation of school students will also be scrutinised soon after discussing the matter with individuals involved in the service directly.
Children face lots of pressures from demanding parents which leads to unwanted circumstances driving them away from their dear and near ones, he observed and appealed to parents and guardians to encourage their children rather than being too demanding.
Every child has their own capability and talents and as such they should be allowed to grow on their own pace instead of imposing the desires of the elders, he stressed.
Radheshyam also said that education is to prepare the children for their life but not just to get good marks and a job. Children are the future pillars of the society and it is therefore important to boost their creativity and encourage them to dream big that would lead to new inventions and innovations. He also urged teachers to use audio-visual teaching and learning methods to make learning more interesting for the students.
Children should be provided platforms and opportunities to have discussions and experimentations among the peers under the guidance of the teachers and guardians in order to inspire and help them in discovering their innate abilities while cultivating moral values, he said.
Emphasising on the need to make school a place of attraction for the students, he said that financial and social shortcomings should not become an impediment in the teaching learning process. He also appealed to the teachers to treat students as their own children and support them to overcome their weaknesses.
Teaching and non-teaching staff and students of the school attended the function.
