Give 10 years, BJP will bring change in Manipur: Biswajit
IMPHAL, 17th Oct: Pledging sincere efforts in bringing developmental change in the state, works minister Th Biswajit has asked the people of Manipur to give a chance of 10 years to the BJP government in order to take the state to a whole new level of development. The minister was inaugurating a multipurpose community hall constructed under his local area development fund at Pebiya Pandit Leikai under Thongju assembly constituency on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Biswajit said that local area development fund is public fund sanctioned through the local MLAs and he has been utilising all these funds by handing them over to the public. Development should be parallel in all spheres and improvement only in the valley with the hill areas lagging behind could not be called real development. The present government knows this and it has been putting its efforts to bring development at par in both hills and valley, he said.
On the other hand, the state is known for its sporting talents and the game of polo originated from the state. Unfortunately, the past governments did nothing to encourage polo players. The present government values the games and those players, who are working hard to keep the tradition alive. So, the state cabinet recently approved job appointment of seven polo players, the minister said.
He further said that bringing peace and development overnight would be an impossible task. Despite changes brought about by the new government which is only about one and half years old, criticising the government over its functioning would be foolish and unjust. Give 10 years to the BJP government and see how the government takes a major leap in the race of development for the state, Biswajit said, while urging for cooperation and support from the public towards achieving this target.
President of the construction committee of the community hall Nandeibam Sajou presided over the function while Thanga MLA T Robindro attended as guest of honour. Later, the minister inaugurated another multipurpose community hall constructed from his LADF at Sairom Leirak.
