Hopingson elected as new TNL Prez
UKHRUL, 2nd Nov: Hopingson A Shimray has been elected as the new president of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) succeeding Weapon Zimik in an uncontested general election held at its assembly hall here on Friday. Along with him, Tuisem Kamkara and Khanngam Muivah were also elected unopposed, as vice president and deputy speaker of the apex customary body respectively. On Friday, TNL Speaker handed over a certificate each to Hopingson A Shimray, Tuisem Kamkara and Khanngam Muivah soon after declaration of the election results. Oath taking/charge taking has been slated for November 8. The three were unanimously chosen for the posts as consensual candidates so as to bring about a reformation in its system of administration, according to TNL. Weapon V Zimik tendered his resignation as president of TNL in September earlier this year.
