Regulate subjects, weight of school bag: MHRD
IMPHAL, 24th Nov: Ministry of Human Resource Development has instructed all states and union territories to formulate guidelines to regulate the teaching of subjects and weight of school bag in accordance with the government’s instructions. According to MHRD, homework shall not be assigned to the students reading in classes I and II. Schools should not prescribe any other subjects except language and mathematics for Class I and II and language, EVS and mathematics for classes III to V students as prescribed by NCERT. Students should not be compelled to bring additional books, extra materials and the weight of the school bag should not exceed 1.5 kg, 2 to 3 kg, 4 kg, 4.5 kg and 5 kg for students reading in classes I to II, III to V, VI to VII, VIII to IX and X respectively. All the schools under the department of Education have to strictly comply with the instructions with immediate effect.
