Kyamgei fumes over denial of NFSA cards
IMPHAL, 17th Jan: Reacting against cancellation of ration cards under National Food Security Act (NFSA) for 75 per cent of Muslim families in Keirao assembly constituency by CAF&PD department, Kyamgei Muslim Youth Development Association has demanded explanation from the department at the earliest. Addressing a press meet convened by the association along with Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation at Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai on Thursday, advisor of the association Md Sahauddin said that 75 per cent of the Muslim population in the assembly constituency are poor farmers or labourers, who are living below poverty line. Earlier, these families were entitled PDS items under AAY and priority household lists. Surprisingly, CAF&PD department recently cancelled ration cards for around 75 per cent of the beneficiaries, he said, while demanding the reason for the cancellation. He also enquired if the department sees those poor families as rich ones.
