Police ‘smoke bomb’ protesting RMSA, SSA teachers

STAFF REPORTER
IMPHAL, 6th Feb: The police on Wednesday used smoke bombs to disperse members of Joint SSA and RMSA Teachers’ Association in their attempt to control the agitating teachers who had come to meet Chief Minister N Biren while the latter was attending a function at Lamphelpat.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest, one protesting teacher condemned use of the excessive force by the police on the teachers who were undergoing the protest in a peaceful manner and just wanted to convey their grievances to the CM.
The protester stated that the demands include clearance of due salaries and recruitment of SSA and RMSA teachers from among state cadre. The teacher further said that the agitations would continue until their demands are fulfilled.
