Life’s lessons are also part of education: Dr Heptulla
STAFF REPORTER IMPHAL, 30th Oct: Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoHSEM) celebrated its silver jubilee at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) here with Governor of Manipur Dr Najma Heptulla as chief guest on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor emphasised that education is not just about learning what one is taught at school, but includes learning from life's lessons as well.
She went on to state that learning about the various cultures and crafts of the society is also a part of education. Science and technology is also another important section in education whose effects are very profound. With technological advancements and presence of internet, almost everything has become digitised and easily accessible. Furthermore, as education plays an important role in shaping the youth, a country's progress is undeniably inevitable, shemaintained.
The Governor observed that it would be very beneficial for the students if some time is reserved for extracurricular activities.
Acknowledging the current education problem in the state that has led to outflow of students outside Manipur, the Governor assured that she will help the government and the public in finding a solution that will upgrade the state's education system well.
Education minister Th Radheshyam, who presided over the function, said that education is a combination of hard work, quality and right choices. It is a means to achieving a meaningful life. Considering the fact that higher secondary is a very crucial stage in a student's life, the council must not turn away from its responsibilities towards ensuring proper education to the youth and be a beacon of light to them. As time changes, the council must also change as well. Thus, the council must continually strive to bring about changes in the society by means of knowledge under a common theme of learning from the past and looking up to the future, the minister added.
CoHSEM chairman L Mahendra Singh and secretary Dr Maisnam Bidyasagar were also present on the occasion as dais members.
A souvenir cum annual report titled 'COHSEM 2017' was released by the chief guest to mark the occasion.
