STAFF REPORTER IMPHAL, 1st Nov: Human Rights Defender Manipur (HRDM) has banned Information Technology and Broadcasting Service (ITBS) Limited after the company was found collecting huge amount of money from different people with promise of lucrative jobs since 2010.
Addressing media persons at the office of Protection & Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) at Wahengbam Leikai here on Wednesday, HRDM general secretary Rakesh Moirangthem informed that ITBS Ltd collected huge amount of money from around 4000 people with false promise of providing them jobs. It collected Rs 1 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh from each of the victim in the form of security deposits.
ITBS is a bogus company with no permanent office. Some days ago, the company’s office was attached to a school at Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai. After about 15 days, the company shifted its office in a rented room in Senapati. Six persons are running the operation from different places, Rakesh said.
The persons behind the bogus company are director (valley) Pukhrambam Ibocha of Naoremthong Khullem Leikai, director (hills) Meisnam Khogen of Sangaiprou, general manager Irom Kunjakeshore of Waiton Awang Leikai, administrative officer Mangkholar Kom of Ichum Keirap, vice-chairman N Pravinkumar of Kongba and joint director Aribam Brajamohon of Sagolband Khamnam Leirak, he revealed.
Rakesh further informed that they applied an RTI application to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to know the authenticity of ITBS Ltd.
In response to the RTI, they came to know that the ministry does not have registration of any such companies. Interestingly, the company has been operating in the state since 2010 and they have been collecting the security deposits from various people, he explained.
Orders of the company are issued in the name of Swami Dhatta, secretary of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. However, the ministry informed that there is no such name holding the post in the ministry office. Based on the RTI reply from the ministry, it has become clear that the ITBS Ltd is a bogus company and HRDM took the decision of banning it with immediate effect, Rakesh said.
He also asked the six persons who are behind the operation of the bogus company to come to HRDM office within seven days unless they want to face unwanted consequences. He also asked one Khumanthem Binarani and her groups, who claim to be staff committee of the company to come to HRDM office within seven days.
