STAFF REPORTER IMPHAL, 7th Nov: Preparations for smooth conduct of this year’s Manipur Sangai Festival have started to gather pace with six MLAs entrusted to oversee construction of temporary stalls and installation of requisite infrastructure at Hapta Kangjeibung in Palace Compound.
Unlike the past editions, venues for organising different events for the upcoming annual tourism promotional festival will be bifurcated to three zones, including Lamboi Khongnangkhong and Khuman Lampak sports complex, besides Hapta Kangjeibung.
While various events, ranging from entertainment programmes to sale and exhibition of traditional handicraft and handloom products as well as indigenous cuisines which used to be conducted at Hapta Kangjeibung, the stalls being constructed for the latest edition of the festival will be specifically for display, promotion or sale of locally produced items only.
The newly developed Trade and Exhibition Centre at Lamboi Khongnangkhong in Imphal West district will be making its debut in the festival as the venue for sale and display of products of other states and some south-east Asian countries, especially invited for the annual calendar event.
The MLAs include Th Satyabrata, K Robindro, N Indrajit, S Subhaschandra, L Rameshwor and Ashab Uddin.
As reported earlier, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex will be hub for adventure sports and recreational items suitable to children and youth.
