MP dubs Cong campaign drama to create panic

Despite the repeated assurances to uphold the interest and integrity of Manipur by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several central leaders, Congress party is creating panic among the people of the state by organising a series of conference on the Framework Agreement signed between Government of India and NSCN-IM, said Rajya Sabha MP and BJP Manipur Pradesh president Ksh Bhabananda.

Bhabananda was speaking during a political conference of BJP, which was held at Mayang Imphal Keithel community hall on Thursday. BJP Mayang Imphal Mandal organised the conference.

Bhabananda said that BJP does not want the people living under a constant fear and the conference is part of the party’s endeavour to clear off the sense of panic created by Congress. He also charged the Congress of ruling the state for 15 years by dividing the hills and valley. On the other hand, the seven-month old BJP government is working in a fast pace to bring together the hills and valley and usher in inclusive development, which the Congress government could not do in its 15 years of rule, he said.

Such failure in governance of Congress is the reason for BJP’s ‘Congress free India’ campaign. Congress party will collapse once Rahul Gandhi becomes its president after Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, he claimed.

Citing the 39 MoUs signed with different companies from abroad and within the country during the two-day North East Development Summit, the BJP state chief termed the initiative of the BJP government as a good intention towards bringing development in the state.

Former BJP Manipur Pradesh president Thounaojam Chaoba, who was also present at the conference, accused Congress of using up all financial resources of the state and mismanaging thousands of crore of central fund. As such, the BJP government is not in a position to award 7th Central Pay Commission to its employees. The new government is also facing hard times in declaring results of many recruitment processes initiated by the former government, he added.

At the same time, many Congress leaders are having tough times facing scores of visitors, who are demanding refund of bribe money. In a bid to avoid those visitors, Congress leaders are spending their time together by organising protest against Framework Agreement, he contended.

It is surprising for a former chief minister, who just laughed off a hoarding displaying ‘Welcome to South Nagalim’ during his visit to Senapati, to talk about territorial integrity of Manipur. In fact, the party is creating new issues like ‘cultural autonomy’ and ‘financial autonomy’ as there is no ground for them to continue their protest after repeated assurances from the Centre, the former union sports minister said.

Chaoba further said that the BJP has learnt its lesson when the clause ‘without territorial limit’ in the ceasefire agreement with NSCN-IM created an uprising in the state. As such, there is no question of repeating the same mistake, he assured.

Mayang Imphal MLA K Robindro said that the BJP government in the state wants to serve the people with sincerity and urged Congress to refrain from spreading false propaganda.

Several state leaders of the party also attended the conference.
