Two arrested for posing as minister’s PRO, extortion bid

IMPHAL, 27th Dec:

Two men who impersonated PRO of MAHUD minister and attempted to collect money from shop owners in Imphal city have been nabbed by police. The impersonators identified as Lourembam Omorjit (36) son of Satkumar of Uripok Sorbon Thingel Leikai and Brahmacharimayum Bilei Sharma (36) son of late Bihari of Nagamapal Singjubung Machin have been remanded to eight days police custody after they were produced in a court Wednesday. According to sources, PRO of MAHUD minister filed a written complaint at City police recently that some people are trying to collect money from some shop owners in Imphal city promising to issue permission for selling tobacco products while using his name. Based on the complaint, city police conducted a thorough investigation, identified the impersonators and nabbed them from their respective houses Tuesday evening. Both of them were produced before the court of duty magistrate Wednesday and remanded to eight days police custody.
